THE COARSE FISHING RECKONER
The coarse fishing reckoner is a computer program that predicts which species of coarse fish will be the most active on any given day. This has been constructed from 8 years of research, to date. An article about the program appeared in the Angling Times in 2006 and it has been developed further since then. The program uses a database of conditions and species caught using the following criteria:
Month, Wind Direction, Wind Strength, Weather, Air Temperature, Water Temperature, Water Colour, Barometric Pressure, and Moon Phase.
By using this database in conjunction with the program we can predict which species will be the most active. The program does this by using data from the BBC 5 day weather forecast and estimates of the water temperature and water colour.
The forecasts apply to the following species:
Tench, Carp, Bream, Roach, Chub, Big Roach, Crucian Carp and Rudd.
We produce a table which depicts the 5 day forecast for the UK and we update this twice a week on Fridays and Mondays before 1.00pm.
